FAQ
Do points from the everyday spend on my card count toward the Companion Pass?
Yes — everyday purchases on a Rapid Rewards card earn qualifying points just like flying does, as long as the points come from spend rather than a promotion that's excluded from qualifying status.
What happens to my qualifying points if I don't hit 135,000?
They reset to zero on January 1. The points themselves stay in your Rapid Rewards balance for booking flights — only the Companion Pass qualifying count resets.
Can I open more than one Southwest card in the same year?
Yes, subject to Chase's own approval rules (including the 5/24 rule). Each open card adds its own 10,000-point annual boost and its own signup bonus, which is the basis of the dual-card play covered in the Companion Pass guide.
